We’re pleased to share with you that, following our recent public consultations and feedback from the local community, we are launching the first new homes at The Timberyard Deptford – this is the new name for the project as it progresses into its next stages. The first neighbourhood to be created at the development, Cedarwood Square on Grove Street, will comprise 203 apartments and townhouses.
As the scheme develops, we will also be delivering a number of open public spaces and parks, new cycle paths for the local community to use and new retail and commercial space. We are particularly excite d to announce that we have now received planning permission for The Victoria Pub and will shortly be starting the transformation to an incubation hub for local budding entrepreneurs and start-up businesses.
The Pop Up Business Skills starter course which ran from 13th – 24th July, gave us an insight into the appetite for business start-up and incubation amongst the local community. It delivered a range of skills including feasibility, business planning, legal and financial structure, funding and digital media. The feedback from the attendees was generally excellent with circa 50 people in attendance over the 10 sessions, 95% of whom live in the local area. Demand outweighed capacity which is very encouraging. The team hope to repeat the success by running another session in September.
Following the public consultation and input from the co-design team (a small group set up to drive the project forward made up of interested parties in the community, Fluid Architects and Lendlease); physical plans for the building and a business case for its interim use have been drawn up. The regeneration will require a temporary planning application which will be submitted to LBL in August.
As part of The Wharves Deptford, Lend Lease are offering a series of free business-skills workshops in partnership with Greenwich Cooperative Development Agency (GCDA), accompanied by a drop in advisory session. This will be the first commitment to the local area to encourage business enterprise by creating an atmosphere where potential and small business can flourish. For full details you can download the flyer here.
If you are interested in attending the workshops, please register with Sergio at the GCDA by calling 020 8269 4880 or emailing Sergio@gcda.org.uk

Many thanks to all who have been involved in the recent events, looking at the final updates to the masterplan before it is submitted for planning. We are currently compiling and analysing all the feedback into a report. This will form part of the Statement of Community Involvement, which is a public planning document that will provide a record of the consultation process, the feedback received and track how the masterplan has responded.
The March exhibition is now available to download from the website – please click here.
Come along between the 7th and 12th March to see how the masterplan has updated, before it is submitted for planning. The exhibitions and summary presentation will look at how plans have responded to feedback, provide further information on key issues and look at the next steps.
