Delivery and meanwhile uses The Wharves Deptford will be delivered in a number of phases over a period of 5 to 8 years. Each phase will deliver a mix of non-residential use and a balanced mix of residential unit types and tenure such that this new community can grow and integrate with the existing neighbourhood in a sustainable way.The sequencing of the development has been devised to ensure public realm, infrastructure and the water body are phased to provide high quality amenity space early on, to make sense of access roads for construction traffic, to cause the least disruption to the surrounding neighbourhood and to work with the SUDS (sustainable urban drainage system) strategy. During the first phase of works, areas of the site will be cleared, but not developed. There is an opportunity to utilise some of these areas for temporary events and uses, such as growing food, education, art and one off events; a place for local people to share ideas and skills and to make connections. |
